The book arrive within 5 days of ordering it, which was good. As for this book, and its genre of Science Fiction, based loosely on Computer hacking, viruses, Mafia, Religion, Morality, sex, it fails utterly to have even a half believable story. YT and Hiro are the heroes, they are the original pizza delivery guys, and then YT gets involved with Uncle Enzo, the Mafia chief. I tried to visualise it as a bit like the graphic image film Sin City, but this was poorly researched and very dragged out. I only purchased it as I’m in a Book Club, and am ashamed to admit I voted for this book based on its title. Avoid this nonsensical story, and give to charity instead.

Great fun to read, unrealistic inventions strangely never tired me as a reader. Totally diferent from seveneves made me think whether the aurhor was inspired by the hitchhikers guides improbability drive. Will have to re-read the Asharan parts to fully understand.

My take-away from the 1992 reading was much different than my 2019 listen - the story thread i thought dominant then turns out to have been only a minor plot point. I'm going to stick with early impression, i know what i like. Just because it's as old as the internet doesn't mean it isn't still blade sharp.

I love Hiro! Loved Y.T! Loved the whole universe, it was funny and heartwarming and full of twists and turns! Lots of drama! It was a fun adventure with villians and good guys and even those lines were blurred, I loved the linguistic virus idea!

This book was a joy to read. I loved the humor spread throughout and the idea that the USA could devolve into "franculates."

Still one of my favorite speculative fiction books of all time. While most of the technology predictions didn’t play out the way it does in the book, there’s much to think on about the big lines of society and where they might take us.

This book has some of the funniest quotes ever and the storyline is super intricate. Defiantly recommend for people who like history

Mind blown. How did this guy write this in the 1990's? It has slow parts, but worth being patient.

This early work is a delight. Very inventive and very entertaining. I’ve read it several times over the years and picked this one up to give to a friend.

This is the first book by Neal Stephenson I ever read and I enjoyed every page! It managed to contain linguistic and imaginative challenges for me, on top of mixing cultural, cyber, futuristic and psychological elements. Would love to see it on a screen as series as well, it is practically a script.

Liked the ideas about the near future. Extreme but readable. Liked the religious angle. Seemed to end a little tangled. Raven would seem to be destined for another apprence.

I love this book, this is the third copy I've bought. It's dreadful pulp and poor printing. Murdoch seems to be really running down Penguin.

This was a good book and would have been even better had I read it when it came out. Some of the lingo is a bit corny and dated now but would not have been circa 1992. Still a super fun read with brilliant concepts. I particularly enjoyed the comparisons that the authors draws between: ancient religions, information societies, monotheism, dualism and binary code. I will be reading more Stephenson for sure!
