By looking at print it appears that the pages belong to duplicate/cheap printing press.

I can see why this book was so popular when it came out, full of 21 century Themes, ideas ,and characters. I think the diamond age book is better constructed, and thought out . this is still a clever and entertaining read

I can't get into it. Interesting premise, but the writing style is choppy, and fragmented. I tried, my stack of books is too high to bother.

The book was in good condition, but the story was pretty dumb. Am I supposed to be reviewing the physical quality or the intellectual quality of books in these reviews?

More cyberpunk than Neuromancer, more Matrix than The Matrix. This is brilliant. Much more approachable to the reader than Neuromancer, and the subsequent books in the trilogy. A must read for sci-fi, cyberpunk, and technology enthusiasts.

Goodness sakes, the conversations with the librarian make it hard to continue the novel most times. I love the world that's built up around this story first of all. Yet, the chapters where the librarian is talking to Hiro at length, which consist of the entire middle of the book, are the worst. It's like shoveling wet mud. It feels like 100 pages of muck with no purpose. You're just shoveling/reading filler material that could've been explained in one chapter. It's seriously bad enough that I took time to warn folks. I hope to try another novel of his, but it's far from Ready Player One. In my opinion, this is a poor read that I won't be proud to have collected.

Una novela entretenida pero que es muy por debajo de las otras obras del escritor. Sin mucho interés.

Interesting story line with a bunch of twists and turns. Finished it so fast because I couldn't put it down. Sci-fi cyberpunk at its finest.

The ending was a huge disappointment- no resolution for any of the main characters or villains, just a bit of inference about where they were headed. The only storyline resolved was the arch villain that you hear about all book but only meet at the end, so I was far more invested in the others. That aside, it’s a fantastic book. It’s a little chunky at times and could use some polish, but the story and ideas are not something you’re likely to read anywhere else, and the rough edges has its appeal once you get into the tempo. The middle of the book was the highlight for me, where they start wrapping in ancient Sumerian culture to this world. Overall a fascinating read; it would’ve been five stars if there had just been one more chapter at the end giving a little more character resolution.

I didn't expect this book at all. It's a familiar take on the artificial reality like Ready Player One and also is set a distopian future. But I loved the characters and had no idea where the story was going. I was hooked and read just about all of it in one day!

Techno thriller in cyberspace with some irl infighting added. A great discussion about languages- human and computer, why they exist and the meaning of Babel. Could have left the old guy and young girl fantasies out though.

Fantastic. What a ride. Amazing. Stevenson explores the foundations of language in the human brain.

Snow Crash is really hard to put down once you start reading. Neil Stephenson takes the reader through a strikingly familiar world and predicts much of the present and future we live in. You won’t regret reading this novel.

When Snowcrash is focussed on Rat Things and Kouriers it's pretty good entertainment. When it drops the exposition bombs and gets philosophical it tries too hard. If you can get past those sections (and the pretty gross sex scene that admittedly leads up to a half decent joke) then you've got a cool 80's six to synthwave comic style book to enjoy.

The print quality is just a smidgen above intolerable, but any publisher ought to be ashamed to put out a book that looks like this. It can't have cost more than 20p to print, with no attention to quality control. It is desperately bad.

Worth the time to read it. Says a lot about books these days. Not your average SCIFi alien post apocalyptic book. Honestly I had no idea where it was going at times but it always flowed. Several twists right up to the finale which was completely unexpected and yet given the book totally plausible. As the reader I just completely missed it. Definitely worth it.

And it was worth the wait. Stephenson is an excellent author, and weaves a story as well as anyone in his genre. I would stay and write an even longer recommendation, but I bought two more of his books while reading this one, and I need to go read them now.
