| Quite apart from the intellectual scope of the book I found the detail of partly living in a virtual world interesting and amusing. The universe created in the book is far from complete but the bit you see works - as though we see a small and sometimes perplexing part of a universe that, in the background, someone has worked out in great detail. It is incomplete but convincing. As someone trying to get back into reading after years of being lost on the internet I found this a very good start. | ||||

| Thw idea of going into virtual reality was what tweaked my interest in the book. I started reading it and really go turned of about halfway through with the religious rants and the details of something I can care less about. I stopped reading it because the past 6 chapters I have read have been about religion and have put me to sleep. | ||||

| The story seemed to lack continuity and direction. The story was not what I expected nor was it what I thought I was buying based on the description and reviews. I read it all the way through anyway and was very disappointed in the last 1/10 of the book and the ending. | ||||

| Reading Snow Crash I was surprised to discover it was written in the early 1990s. An author ahead of his time in predicting the direction of our cyber world. Fantastic sci-fi concepts. Skateboarders "pooning" tractor trailers on the San Diego Freeway in downtown L.A. It's almost an absurdist fantasy like a Pynchon rant, but Stephenson keeps it within the realm of true science fiction with a solid real world connection. Easier to read than Altered Carbon. If you consider yourself a science fiction afficiando, you must read Snow Crash. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Top of the line material. | ||||

| I bought this as a gift for someone who really liked the book Ready Player One and they were disappointed and said this book is pretty boring. Maybe it gets better toward the end - but if you're buying this because you liked Ready Player One then maybe read a sample first. | ||||

| The book starts off a little slow. Once you get into it then it is difficult to put down. Very thorough and entertaining. And unfortunately somewhat right about where we stand today | ||||

| This is a cool cyberpunk story. Mostly 90s cool. I like the pace and the characters and the connections between language, computers, religion and viruses, it makes some good points along the way. A few episodes with long monologues brake the pace of the action, and I'm not a major fan of the ending, but apart from that it's a very good read. Well written, well thought out and still highly relevant - especially seeing as we're in the middle of a new wave of VR-craze right now (this was released during the last one), and visions of our technological future abound. | ||||

| I would rate the first half of this book 5 and the second half of this book 1.5. Once the Librarian character is introduced, it's all downhill. Which was just a shame because there were a lot of good, interesting, and downright enthralling ideas that just got all bungled up into a theoretical concept based on ancient civilizations. If you have to use a full chapter to explain an idea and then another full chapter to re-explain it, it's just a bad idea. And I really didn't need that much exposition for what amounted to verbal malware. Which is absolutely idiotic. Mr. Stephenson's editor(s) did him a huge disservice by leaving that jibberish. I did finish this book so I could give an honest review, but would have probably been more content stopping at the halfway point and walking away. It never found it's way back to the exciting cyberpunk universe from whence it came. For all the time wasted on history lessons, the ending was rushed and not cohesive. Pretty disappointed overall. | ||||

| This is a classic book that I think anybody interested in technology, augmented/virtual reality and futurism can really enjoy. My 14 year old son is absorbed in it now. This binding is solid and high quality and satisfying to hold. | ||||
