Bravura opening scene introducing main characters. However, it is bizarre and a bit hard to follow. I did enjoy the blend of tech and linguistics and the concept of a language meme changing brains. But this philosophical exegesis gets pretty deep in to the weeds.

I don't like this book. Writing style sucks. Name's of characters suck. I am not enjoying it at all. Big waste of money.

Fun and compelling premise. The idea of human machine interface and the exchange of more than commands and responses.

Definitely written by a fellow Nerd/Geek. The opening line says it all. I really like this book.

A fantastic book which has until recently has been very hard to find. As a 'primer' on cyber space/avatars it is second only to Neuromancer. I read it just as I got into computing and it was invaluable. I am particularly happy at downloading it from t'internet.

Great read from start to finish. Good world building and nice race to the finish. Definitely would recommend! Rat Thing for the win!

I listen to books on CD as I drive. After 45 minutes of this book I turned it off it just was so much of a jumbled and fast-paced story. Plus it seemed that the narrator was speed reading it. A few days later I continued with the story, got drawn in and hung on. I've read and listen to Neil Stephenson books for a few years now. This was so bizarre I can't help but feel sorry for people who live near, live with or are friends with Neal Stephenson How can they keep up with him?

Stephenson develops interesting multidimensional characters and puts them in a dystopian future ripe for fun. He might spend a little too much time explaining the evil plot of the villain, but he makes up for it with a creative view of the future and a tremendous sense of humor.

While the book had cool ideas about VR, a meta verse and neurolinguistic programming (and its relation to software) it lacked the depth and the reasoning a good book needs. Undeveloped characters, events that are off shoots and offer no development, and seemingly unmotivated choices made me pause several times due to.. well, a lack of wanting to continue. Would have gained massively with more editing resources.

As many as they'll let me. That's my answer to Amazon's question: "How many stars would you give Snow Crash?" It isn't perfect; Neal Stephenson has a bad habit (which can be fatal to the careers of young science fiction writers) of trying to explain in detail how the things he invented for a story (eg [in general, not specific to Neal Stephenson] transportation, communications, money, government, society) work. But in this novel, the concept is so high, the scope so broad, the characters (especially the two main ones) are so great, the story is just so big . . . that I didn't even notice he was doing it here, too, the first dozen times I read it I used to read this story (& half a dozen others) every year. Recently I noticed that I hadn't read it in a few years. I quickly realized that this was because I no longer buy words printed on paper, & no longer look at my bookshelves. So I bought the Kindle edition

Tell a friend to read it before someone makes it into a movie! Easily the most fun I've had reading a book in quite some time. No wonder all the nerds love it

This book was incredibly fun. I learned a lot - about binary, computer systems, linguistics, ancient history. The characters are fascinating, and you want to know more. The themes are also very relevant today.

One of the most satisfying and substantive book ever written. One's mind is satisfied. A good meal for the brain. Don't miss this one.

I enjoyed the originality and pulse of the world that Stephenson has fleshed out in this novel. Very entertaining. An odd scary and somehow comical United States.
