I return to Snow Crash again and again - for the elegantly manic poetically bent writing style, the memorable almost comic-book vivid characters and the wild settings. Burbclaves don't seem so far off now - here's to the Y.Ts & Hiro Protagonists out there.

It's hard for me to get into fiction that's not totally believable, but the action and suspense kept me going until the best parts, the parts about the history of human language, psychology, and consciousness.

Starts out rough, but if you hang in there for a couple of chapters the story is actually good. I like Neal Stephenson - his stories take a while for the proper setting and is usually worth the effort.

Gets you from the first paragraph. Keeps you going feverishly until the very last word. Home seems about right. Righteous.

I cannot express enough how much I loved this book.

Started getting really interesting 1/3 into the book and the action just never stopped. Brilliantly sarcastic writing and loved Stevensons ability to take ridiculous puns from corporate marketing to the next level. Of course there is a bunch of suspension of disbelief required with all the pseudo history and linguistics, but i thought it was super fun and would recommend.

I read this based on the recommendation of several friends from my local hackerspace. I'm a huge fan of Gibson, but Stephenson just doesn't do it for me. I find the characters one dimensional and the prose insipidly droll. Cheap jokes are no substitute for good writing. The plot progresses linearly and boringly.

I read this book a decade or more ago. I've since reread it numerous times. It never ceases to amuse me. Like Zodiac, it's short, sweet and packed with Stephenson's trademark humor.

OK story until the sex scene between the 15 year old heroine and the adult antagonist. What was he thinking?

Extremely well written. The author actually predicted Secondlife. The correct use of the terms Hacker and Cracker is so refreshing. It will be confusing to anyone who grew up with the medias definitions.

The book is so fast paced, I'm not sure why they chose to slow it down with ad infinitum dialogue with the "librarian" about Sumerian myths and language that the reader could have been brought up to speed on in a few paragraphs. I would have given this book 5 stars if not for the long, boring, pace destroying dialogue. The story is so good, but I think it could have been way better. Lots of humor, lots of action.

The beginning of this book has some of the most relentless and funny SF action I have ever read.Phrases from it have entered my vocabulary. It's a brilliant, believable future full of 3 dimensional characters who stick in your mind and I don't want to say why because of spoilers.I'm so glad to get an E version as I've nearly worn out my pb copy.

I have been meaning to read this book for ages, but never got around to it. This book is excellent, and holds up amazingly well for it's age. Well written, exciting, complex and deep. Only wish that there was more.

Third time I've read it. One of the best techno thrillers ever

Not a horrible ending, but not a great one. Literally over two thirds exposition. You're lost throughout most of it.

It's a little weird as a story goes but it has a streak that kept me reading. It was recommended to me by someone that thought I'd find it amusing due to my long computing background. That may be the only reason I read it to the end. It's only a three star read.

An imaginative and well thought out novel - and also good fun to read. The inventiveness and extrapolation of social changes is clever. Hard to believe it was written over 20 years ago. It has stood the test of time very well.

The whole religious angle to the story is a bit odd; and that's not the only odd bit. However, I like the vision for sure. Specially a recommended read for people in computational linguistics as well as virtual reality!
