| This is a great dystopian tale of the future.Considering that it was written in the mid 1990's the author shows an eerie prescience in the way virtual reality has developed. Couple that with a crash course in Linguistics and the origin of different languages the reader is left with a tale of Anthropological understanding as well as a ripping good yarn. | ||||

| I wish I could have written this book. I've been toying around with the same plot idea for years but I have no gift for characters which makes it pretty hard to write a novel. Stephenson has a gift for both plot and character along with a breathtaking imagination. | ||||

| There were a lot of fantastic futuristic technological advances except for this one item which, by the way, was what the whole plot centered on. Although, if he would've projected this device into the future, there wouldn't have been a story. Sorry, I'm being vague because I don't want to give anything away. | ||||

| This book is a mixed bag. There are some entertaining parts that get quite lost in the bizarre ancient language / virus discussion. It was difficult to follow and seemed quite pointless after reading the synopsis Hiro gives to the bosses near the end. The book really drug on with very little payoff in the end. | ||||
