| This is actually worth 4 1/2 stars. I love how Ruth Rendell creates claustrophobic atmospheres and fills them with people who may not be very likeable but who you still care about and don't want to see come to grief, even though this being Rendell, you know that is going to happen. The ending was really good. A very satisfying read. | ||||

| Great story and loved the way the two threads to the book eventually merge. But what a pity that my enjoyment was somewhat spoiled by random capital letters, hyphens and commas appearing all over the place for no reason whatsoever. Awful proof reading! | ||||

| I had read this book before but had given it away and I wanted my husband to read it to introduce him to Ruth Rendell. I've loved her novels for years but he had never read any of them. He loved it and is now reading another one of her books. Ruth Rendell can really make you feel like the characters are real. I love her writing style and can't wait for her next book. In my opinion, this story is one of her best. I could read it again! | ||||
