| 誰もが評価している作家という理由で、ケンフォレットの作品一冊読んでみました。堅苦しい内容を想像していましたが、なんてことはない容易な内容でした。洋書でも気軽にいける一冊です。 | ||||

| Ken Follett loves his periodic-fiction, and Code to Zero is another one to add to his collection. Set in post WWII USA, it centres around the cold war, the arms race, and the count down to the launching of a very important missle. While I highly enjoyed the book, I read it with a constant feeling of deja-vu... I was certain that I had seen or heard a very similar plot somewhere else before. This feeling was compacted by the fact that this book, of course follows Follett's enjoyable, yet formulaic plot of: important/powerful man-with-a-dilema meets frisky and beautiful lady-with-special-skills who become a couple and save the world. Throw in some evil do-ers (communists, in this book) and a daring escape, and you have yourself a Follett novel. Predictable, yes... but, as always, I had a lot of fun. | ||||
