Ms. Grafton if a refined writer who holds my interest mostly throughout her writings, she stops short painting vivid visual pictures with her words such as the older writers as Rex Stout or John D Macdonald but at least she starts with a plot and sticks with the theam as she weaves and inter mingles her characters. It’s always been a pleasure reading her books, there is enough violence implicated along with gentle let downs that very seldom leaves me disappointed. However she does not leave me wanting more like some of the others, just my interests I’m sure many others out there have much stronger opinions but I do appreciate her writings which have never left me with unsettling thoughts or musings

Well, Sue Grafton surprised me with the outcome of this Kinsey crime solver. Enjoy it and maybe you will be surprised too

I'm ready for the next alphabetic thrill. Sue never disappoints and this reader is completely hooked. Sure wish she hadn't been so adamant about no movies because Kinsey's cases would be great tv series.

I enjoy her books. Plan to read all of them. They are an easy read, and sometimes she gets too descriptive. But enjoyable anyway.

Too bad Sue never got a chance to finish this series. Another great yarn.

Well, maybe a 3.5 Star - but NOT a 4 Star. Honestly, I was very excited about getting to know Kinsey Milhone the female private investigator. She seemed smart, sharp and strong. But then about half way she became and weak bodied and weak minded female and I wondered what happened to author - did she start writing "O" before finishing "N"? It was like she brushed her aside and made her stupid. Heck, even I was beginning to figure out the plot half way through it and that's not what an author really wants. Too much time and emphasis on the surrounding landscapes and people descriptions and personality assumptions got boring. AND then the holes in the plot - like what you might ask? Well, who made the acid laced brownies in the fridge? That was never covered. Come on, would a guest in your house really go in and eat a wrapped dessert?

Plot was decent. Story moved along well. Kinsey usually is smart but she was very talkative at points in the story that were very stupid. Have read most of this series and liked it. Fun to get back to it after a long absence.

This was not one of my favorites, it became long and hard to get through and the whole premise of why the woman wanted Kinsey on the case was bizarre at best and not that believable. All in all. Of course I love the series, so go ahead fans and read it.

Fun to read until the ridiculous finale, which made no sense. Sue Grafton is just great with wry humor and observations, marvelous, believable dialogue, and poetic descriptions. She weaves a very exciting plot which piques one's interest. Unfortunately , it all completely decompensates during the final twenty pages; employing Perils of Pauline silliness in confrontation with the villain, and leaving the reader thinking "HUH?"
In this case, the entire town's hostility remained unexplained. It seemed like Grafton got tired of writing and just patched together some nutty bizarre conclusion.

Another good one in the series. Definitely kept me guessing from the very end. Excited to read more of the series.

I love this book.

As usual Sue Grafton writes with dedication.

While the client is rather boring, the story built slowly in excitement right up to the end where it exploded.

This one was a little different. It held my attention until the last sentence. I did not realize the truth till the last few pages.
