I like all of her books, I wish she would write more. It's a good book for anybody that like to read.

I have read almost all of Ms. Davidsons books and all are wonderful. They are funny, suspensiful and just plain good books.

I love reading Diane's books. They are always a fun read and they keep my interest all the way through.

I like all her books. Though they are murder mysteries, they are light-hearted with no deep sub-plots. I also like the recipes. I have tried some of them and they are delicious.

I have read many of Diane's books, and tried several of her recipes from the books. I have had some success from the recipes, occasionally improvising ingredients for newer versions of the recipe. I have enjoyed the books, and the recipes do give me the occasional nudges to try new things, although, to be honest, I prefer the simplified version sometimes.

This book had too much extraneous detail and description. Got tired of hearing about Goldy's son's life and activities when they contribute nothing to the plot. Also got tired of hearing about Goldy being so helpless when in other stories she has more guts. This was a really boring story and I skimmed most of it just to see who was the culprit. I like her writing but this wasn't up to her standards.

Noone can beat Diane Mott Davidson and her culinary mysteries. Just when you think Goldy is going to settle in to being a caterer, something else happens to turn her, once again, into a cunning sleuth. This one grabs you right from the first page. Imagine finding one of your best friends murdered. It may not be unusual for Goldy but will it ever stop?

I am hooked on Goldy. Enjoyed this adventure with her immensely. Have started her next book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoy reading any of her books. If you like mysteries, with a twist, you'll enjoy these plus you get recipes to boot!

After gamely slogging through 232 pages of Goldy's feeling really, really bad about her friend Dusty's death, I skipped to the end. It turned out that two key characters hadn't been introduced in the first 232 pages (of 420), and that another character had only been shallowly introduced and characterized. Following the obligatory scene with Goldy's life being threatened, there followed a couple of pages of explanation of the perp's motivation that read like a plot outline. Too bad the book didn't live up to the outline! The paperback places all of the recipes at the end of the book, instead of sprinkled through the text (which is a more interesting and fun arrangement). The recipes are the only thing that I can recommend--without having kitchen-tested any. However, I doubt that I will be purchasing another Davidson Culinary Mystery after having spent $7.99 for this turkey of a mystery novel.

Of this series, my first on CD. I missed the recipes. I know, they are read to you at the end of the "book," but I listen and drive, so it was not a big help. They could be included in the box, or list a site where one can go to DL the ones you want.

Like others, I have read the whole Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery series and I have enjoyed each book...until now. This book is slow to start and as I am only on page 100 after a week, hasn't picked up speed yet. I can't get past Goldy wallowing in her sorrow. Granted, I have never tripped over a dead body only to find out that it was my neighbor, but enough is enough already. As another reader mentioned, there are a few disjointed parts for example, at one point Marla is driving Goldy to pick up Arch and Gus. A couple of paragraphs later, Goldy is turning into the parking lot...but I thought Marla was driving??? I hope that this book was a fluke and Diane Mott Davidson will come back with a mystery of the same caliber that all of her fans have come to expect and enjoy.

I have read all the Diane Mott Davidson's books. Love Goldie and the trouble she gets herself into. Like a cat that can not leave well enough alone even though her husband says sp. I am in the process of reading this book and enjoy it very much. The recipes are great.

I had looked so forward to Mott-Davidson's latest book. It just wasn't as good as the others. I see that there are many other reviews that agree with me. What in the world happened? Has she perhaps, 'passed the torch'? It just doesn't seem like her usual style. It was disjointed, there were a couple of really huge mistakes. She introduced two new characters, insinuating, they had always been there. It was a mess. I can only hope that the next one, if there is a next one, is better. C'mon Diane, don't let us down!

Catchy titles. Combines mystery, intrigue, current issues, good family values and great recipes. Have enjoyed all of her books and look forward to the next one.

I am a huge fan of Diane Mott Davidson's culinary mysteries. While I enjoyed this story, it didn't seem up to par with some of her other stories. Dark Tort seemed to focus less on the cooking aspects, which is one of the things I look forward to in her books. It's definitely worth reading, I've just enjoyed some of her other stories more.

Reader Rosenblat's virtuosa vibrant voicing* of Diane Davidson's delectably Dark Tort is a divine drive-time diversion. Just like Jessica Fletcher's Cabot Cove, people keep dying surrounded by suspicious circumstances in the environs of Aspen, Colorado, home of Goldie (proprietor of Goldilock's Catering - where everything is Just Right) Schultz. This course in the Goldie banquet is well plotted, paced and populated with all the old gang and a tasty batch of newcomers from whom to select WhoDunnit: a den of iniquitious attorneys and Episcopalians! The drawback of this, and any CD rendering (as compared to the archaic cassettes) is that, if one needs to turn one's attention elsewhere whilst driving and misses part, one has to go ALL THE WAY BACK to the beginning of that track, instead of being allowed to just flip the rewind switch to go back a few paragraphs or pages. :-( TundraVision, Amazon reviewer *Is it just me, or does she, at times, sound like she could be Brenda Vaccaro's twin sister?
