| Just finished this book on Kindle, and wowee, it's incredible. If you enjoy sci-fi, or history, or comedy, or characterisation or just plain good story telling then you will enjoy this book. Moving, funny, thrilling, prophetic and intelligent in equal measure, it's one of the best novels I have ever read. But amazon, please sort out the MASSIVE spelling mistake that others mention in these reviews, it's very detracting and sloppy to keep it included. | ||||

| Overall, I really enjoyed this book. After having finished Ready Player One somewhat recently before reading this, I marveled at the similarities considering the books were written something like 25 years apart. And the fact that this one was written in the early 90s is not lost on me, as there were many futuristic components that are eerily similar to what we have in our world today. The biggest downfall of me was that this book was so incredibly dense. On the one hand, Stephenson created a fictional world based on the real world where I live (Los Angeles) and described it with immense detail. (And I can totally see the city/country heading this way, btw.) But on the other hand, there was so much description to slog through that I found myself re-reading some things over and over trying to absorb it and not always quite getting it. Definitely a gripping story overall, but was left many times confused as to what was going on. Plus In the end, there were many questions left unanswered, but it is what it is. Would still recommend it for anyone who likes Futuristic Sci Fi. | ||||

| Another excellent NS novel. Action comedy with a dystopian twist set in the near future. Recommended for most sci-fi fans. | ||||

| Fast-moving, very interesting set of characters, as well as a compelling set of concepts. Good mix of cyberpunk sensibilities plus science fiction, historical ideas. | ||||

| For half of the book, I was held by (and admired) the imaginative exploits of the well-drawn characters and the author's predictions of future techno developments, all quite believable - and disturbing. NS has the ability to mainline panoramic mental images supported by credible scientific facts, without info overload - for the most part - I fell at the hurdle of a long (and for me rather tedious) account of Sumerian semantic influences. This is probably an unfair outcome due more to my short concentration span than a failure of the author to make the explanation of an important plot foundation more accessible. I promise to come back and finish it. | ||||

| I am about 2/3 of the way through this post-apocalyptic novel. I chose it from a list of "best" sci fi/fantasy books of all time on line. I had to check the copyright more than once (1992). Prescient is an understatement. I will be looking up many ancient references on Sumeria. ...I have no idea where the fantastic and the facts begin and end. My mind has gone whooof more than a few times. A few places I skim a paragraph that is "too much verbiage" and a few places I reread because the technical is beyond my ken but overall a fine read. The characters are quite a pleasure. The plot moves along a frisky clip. I really don't care how it ends as the journey has been epic. | ||||

| Really enjoyed this book. My first foray into Cyberpunk writing, and I couldn't put it down. I will definitely read more of Stephenson in the future. | ||||

| This is one of my favorite book of sci-fi/vr. And it was written over 30 years ago. When is the movie coming out? Or TV show. Come on SyFi! | ||||

| Not sure how this one slipped by me, but it is the best read I have had in a very long time. Neal knocked it out of the park with this one. | ||||

| This story is fun and action-packed and should appeal to programmers above all. That said, the technology details are slightly dated, inevitably impacting present day enjoyment. And some stretches of text relating to religion/history got a little tedious for me. Still I couldn't help but be impressed with the creativity and originality of the story. Overall a very satisfying read. | ||||

| This is a great book. Not perfect, but a good sci fi book. Some really interesting themes. I enjoyed it. Like neuromancer. | ||||

| The author's vision of a not too distant future earth, with its technological advances and different factions that have risen to power is so interesting in itself it makes the book worth reading. But these elements have been written so seamlessly into a well paced, griping story with really awesome characters makes it even more with while. I really enjoyed this book | ||||

| This is the third time I've bought this book. I keep giving it to friends who never return it. It's the only book I've read three times. Pretty much a primer for VR. | ||||

| Starts off great, but peters out in the end- Stephenson just didn't do a good job of wrapping it up. | ||||

| Fantastic, amazing vision given that the this novel pre-dates the web as we know it. Feels like half of googles services were first conceived in this book! I prefer diamond age as it feels chimes with my feelings as a parent of young children. But snow crash is absoulutely great. I hope you all "listen to reason" | ||||
