すべて死者は横たわる

「すべて死者は横たわる」。原題は All the Dead Lie Down.
これはアメリカの詩人エミリ・ディキンソン（Emily Dickinson: 1830 -1886）の詩の一節から取られている。
引用部を含むその冒頭の２行は：

It was not Death, for I stood up
And all the Dead, lie down―

試みに訳します。
「それは死ではなかった。なぜなら私は立ち上がり、
死者はすべて、横たわるから―」
