Creative as All Get Out

The first half of this book is an amazing mess. Ideas come at you at blinding speed; with no apparent connections. Somehow it all starts to come together in the second half of the book and all of the randomness ties together in a nice neat mindbending conclusion.

From ancient Sumaria through the Tower of Babel - history sets the stage for a look at the future of franchising hell. And somehow through it all, man's best friend makes a difference!

Not as great as advertised

I was looking forward to reading this book when I first got it, but it ended up being a bit disappointing. Felt as though the characters were not very fleshed out and the plot was a little messy until everything came together in the end. Giving 3 stars for the world building, the character YT, and for the action scenes, which were engaging and well written.

Depth of Plot and Worldbuilding

A really, really interesting book. I’m going to be thinking about it for a while.

Though my first reaction is to say: YT, chill out, you horndog.

Otherwise, this novel is a neat AU, with expansive worldbuilding and lots of nice twists and turns. The pacing is excellent throughout, so reading never felt like a chore.

The underlying concepts reminded me a lot of the movie Genocidal Organ, so if you like that, you’ll like this (and vice versa). All in all, I enjoyed this book immensely.

3.5/5 Stars.
Interesting book. I found individual elements very entertaining but couldn’t really grasp what was going on until the last 25% of the novel. I found Y.T’s story and character a heck of a lot more interesting than Hero’s, and found the juxtaposition of events, places, and characters confusing at times. That being said, I did read it all the way through, and I was on the whole, glad that I did.

Perhaps the best SciFi writer I've ever read. This being his short dimensional vision and Diamond Age being the deeper vision of the age. I highly recommend this novel.

Futurist thriller with religious themes

An excellent book that at first I worried was going to be too much like Ready Player One (I realize it was actually a precursor of the latter) but it was very different, and better. A lot of the imagined future holds up surprisingly well given how long ago it was written.

Incredible, unique

Seriously, don’t waster your time or money here

Worst book I’ve ever read. About 90% of the weird storyline was completely unnecessary and I honestly read the whole thing in hopes that at some point it would all make sense. It didn’t. I can’t like a story just for the sake of trying to find some creative appreciation of what the author was trying to do. The book was just terrible and I only bought it because it had good reviews and I like sci fi books. Never again.

Cyberpunk at its finest

An extremely fun story wrapped up in Sumerian mythology with samurai swords, futuristic internet surfing, thrashers, and the Mafia. It also encapsulates just how paranoid the American government can be. There's quite a bit of satire done from various characters worldviews. This application enhances the personality of certain characters and is definitely a good laugh. Highly recommended.
