Solid overall cyberpunk novel.

Starts off a bit slow before you really see the main story and characters develop. First 60% was tough and then the rest of the boot takes off.

Foundational

This is one of those books that can feel full of cliches, and then you realize that it's a foundational work that all the cyberpunk stories that followed used as a blueprint. Right up there with Neuromancer !

Enjoyable but maybe I’ve come to it too late

I have heard Snow Crash raved about by people who have read it many years ago.
I didn’t enjoy it as much as Cryptonomicon. I feel perhaps this may be that some of it’s concepts and ways it envisages technology have dated a bit.
I also found the historical components heavy reading.
A worthwhile read all the same.

Interessante e as vezes engaja

O livro é bom e recomendo.
Pode ser um pouco longo e explicar demais as coisas, mas vejo como um aspecto bacana pra narrativa. O autor é ótimo na narrativa, mas as cenas de ação poderiam ser melhor trabalhadas.

Excellent and Timely (reread)

I first read this book soon after reading a review in Wired magazine. It had held up marvelously. Like all of Neal Stephenson’s books, I learned quite a bit about esoteric history and technology while reading this book. The story is original, and the characters are well-drawn. Definitely a worthy reread.

More than social commentary

The book is like an alternative history of the U. S., disturbingly close to how events really unfolded since it was published. Stevenson's writing style paints vivid pictures with few words. The different plot lines come together almost perfectly by the end, which arrived faster than I liked. If you're a techie, this is essentially a must-read.

Keeps you reading, like unraveling an ugly sweater

This guy always drags me in, just for the absurdity and the diverse settings, but always feel like a couple turnss, and when you pull back and look at it, a little dirty, realizing the sexual protragonit is a 15 yo girl

Still fun after 20 years!

I'm a big fan of Stephenson and this was one of the first books of his that I read nearly two decades ago. Reading it again was worth it! His foresight on technological evolution and resultant new cultural affinity groups in this Snowcrash universe stands the test of time...

This was released in 1992. This is the most astonishing fact about this astonishing book. As enjoyable and insightful and weirdly prophetic this book is today - remember this was written before the Internet was the worldwide standard. A milestone in science fiction, or fiction, or literature, or books.

Thrill-a-minute !

This is a very well turned out "edge of the seat" techno thriller. I loved it, and am certain I will read it again to pick up on the best bits I missed on my first "rocket ride" reading. Could not put it down.

Somehow I missed this when it was first published...

Good story. It was interesting, but got REALLY interesting at about the 1/2-way mark. Fascinating, even. Makes me want to study Sumerian.

Not that I plan on uploading any videos of white noise to Youtube or anythink like that, mind you. Nope.

I loved it, But then I'm a programmer

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. On the other hand, it does have the faults that some complained about in the one star reviews. I just didn't care because I was laughing so hard.
