No long review here, just a simple piece of advice; If you love Douglas Adams' work you will love this too. It is now in my top 5 favorite books of all time.

There are few authors who can inspire their audience to critically think. Stephenson explores so many concepts that forces his reader to think. This is the kind of art that is as infectious as the virus he writes about.

This book was both exciting and interesting. It was a relief to read sci-fi that didn't set up a sequel for a change. I found Stephenson's writing to be exceptional, and was hooked for the majority of the story. Some interesting insights into historical religion as well as potential futures of computer science (although it is funny how many of the things in the book feel extremely obsolete or dated, while others seem impossibly far-off).

I am used to reading space-based sci-fi, but this was definitely a great read. I may even look into reading some of Stephenson's other work in hopes of finding some more one-volume, non-space sci-fi.

Good cult classic

Definitely the best opening chapter of any novel ever. Such fun. The language is great and the story an exciting adventure. Two well drawn main characters.You don't have to like Sci-fi to enjoy it.

I think this book will be considered a classic one day! A perfect blend of technology,humanity,and insanity.One of my favorite writers at his best!

Great book,really enjoyable

While the book is a fun read and incredibly prescient related to tech...it's a bit of a rambler on unrelated or poorly connected tangents and plot points. If you can suspend belief and ignore historical fact, you're in for a good ride.

This book is somewhat a hacker cult classic. Through metaphor, Stephenson describes a what-if future of social media turned to immersive virtual reality and the emergence of cyber threats that migrate from the virtual to the physical. Here, virtual becomes perfected while the real world becomes a true dystopia. Living in a storage shed is acceptable as long as there's a wonderful virtual escape.

Another great read from Neal Stephenson.

though I should have read it maybe a decade ago, it still manages to hold your attention. More mature readers might find the language slightly off-putting.

While Neal is terrible at writing endings, and this one ended as ubruptly as any book I have ever read, he has a great imagination and created a wonderful world to play in.
