Love his books. This one a classic!

Fantastically creative sci-fi with some of the most memorable paragraphs I've read all year.

Liked the book a lot based on the historical references to Babel and Sumer. Like any books that can tie in historical fact and spinbit in a new way. Fun read. Would recommend.

absolutely awesome worldbuilding and near-future tech, finished it in 3 days i just couldnt stop reading it. Also lots of humor, including the main character being named hiro protagonist.

My favorite cyberpunk book. If you enjoyed neuromancer or want a hero that is a pizza delivery, swordsman, hacker this is the book for you.

Clever, fast moving, worth reading

With how old the book is (published in 1992), it’s amazing that Neil Stephenson was able to coin so many amazing terms that are common place today (he literally made up avatar What?!).

While the writing wasn’t his best the story was enjoyable, I’d recommend reading it.

What seems as a futuristic disjointed story rapidly comes together into a coherent storyline with links to the beginning of humankind, leaving you hooked and unable to put it down. Stephenson has crafted an exciting action thriller in the middle of a sci fi setting with just the right amounts of character development.

When someone recommends a book by the pool at a Cabo resort, I tend to believe and read. It was a good decision again. Some of the book was a bit kitschy, like the name of one character Hiro Protagonist. Guess what his role in the book was. That being said it was entertaining.

Crazy cyberpunk at its best. And I mean crazy

This is a great book. I enjoyed it the first time and will end up reading it again. Neal Stephenson is one of the best authors out there.

A must read for fans of anything cyberpunk. If you like the well fleshed out and ponderous nature of Blade Runner, or the literature of Philip K. Dick, this is likely for you.

A book that evolves quickly but doesn't teach the reader too early about backgrounds. Predominantly thrilling, but in some places a bit too much. The latter, however, does not diminish the enjoyment of reading. The ending may seem a bit rushed, but it is nevertheless convincing. All in all a book worth reading for friends of dystopian tech novels!

Software, hardware, Ashera Goddess of sex, Hacking. Religious technology in a virtual world with glass knives dueling with Japanese blades . Moby Dick and Zombies. What’s not to like?
Good theological fiction with a touch of madness.

great read

The work has agreed and it shows in some small details, like payphones and in some bigger details like franchise expansion. The worst problem is YTs age and sexual assault. Reading it when I was 26 years old, I didn't notice, now it's blatant and shines like the loglo of a in novel franchellete and is painfully glaring.
As for the story, it still feels solid with the tech still holding its own which is saying something for a science fiction story that is nearly 25 years old. I'd love to see a modern rewrite like John Scalzi did with Fuzzy Nation. Our even if Neal would do it again. I'd love to see it as the 1000 page more nuanced story that he is capable of now.
