All about facts

Read it in about an hour after I figured out to skip through all the fighter plane bs. Seriously only for real fighter pilots I think. As I am not one I have no idea. But all said, more like a movie script and documentary than fiction. Not what was looking for but stuck with it to the end.

Too wordy, not enough action.

Would not recommend. Part numbers, plane types get old very quickly, with little action. Dale Brown seems to have run out of action ideas.

Waste of time for the most part

Most of the book was enjoyable ,other than all the technical jargon. The president's wife actions were totally unbelievable and totally out of character to the story. Expected more from Dale Brow.

Ordinary....

The storyline was average and predictable, and the continual use military abbreviations and terminology interrupts the flow of the story. - attention to detail is commendable, but this author overdoes it

Technobabble and acronyms galore, story is avoidable. If you must read, skip the first hundred pages.

Too much techno stuff, acronyms, and needless details that do not add anything to the story. I got the impression the writer was trying to impress me with his knowledge of the lowest level details on every part of the various bits of machinery, guns and aircraft mentioned in the book. Ultimately I ended up skipping much of that babble and picking up the storyline later. This resulted in saving a good deal of reading time and finishing up the book early.
As for the story itself: There is no character development except for one, perhaps two guys. All others appear to be talking heads. The overload of military jargon, some of it repeated as if the writer forgot it had been mentioned a few pages earlier, tells me nobody reviewed the content.
Some portions are beyond belief and verge on science fiction.
Not recommended, even as a beach read.

Chains of Command. This book is written for any one who has been in the USAAF as it was full of their jargon. To any one else it was totally fragmented and boring.

Not a page turner

Why to much background. Almost quit reading several times. Is this really the same author of the flight of the old dog????

Too slow, not enough action in the early chapters, I got bored and stopped reading.

I write this review having not made it through the book. It felt like nothing was happening, all background to what was going to happen. I didn't get that far. I will try again, and maybe up my rating. But let's get things happening faster, Dale!

I usually like Dale's writings, but am having difficulty with this one.

The action scenes are very good. Gives a good idea of what really goes ...

A whole lot of detail not to my liking. The action scenes are very good. Gives a good idea of what really goes on in a fighter bomber. The president as a person is weak, for a president, a bit unrealistic. Too many new names, too many different missiles. I got very confused and eventually skipped all those paragraphs.

The worst Dale Brown book ever and that's saying a bunch.

Awful. Not close to credible. Aircraft performance descriptions wholly inaccurate. Simply stinks. Don't waste money on this tripe. Beyond bad!
