I love the whole series so far

I enjoy all her books, although too many of the men have mustaches. Also, in a later book, Decker got rid of his horses with scarcely a qualm. No one I know is so cavalier about the animals they've cared about

The relationships between the culprits are way too complicated - to the point of "who cares." Maybe this book is really a 3, but I so enjoyed the other parts of the story. .

I just happen to like the books. This one is a bit of a downer if you always expect the Lone Ranger to win but is probably more realistic than most of them. The author is still struggling with endings in this one and leaves a lot of underbrush lying around when the book runs out of paper but it is pretty good, not as good as her later work where she has figured out who everyone is and what they do, but well worth reading to get the feel of the development of of her characters and skill.
