This story is quite different to the other ones in the Megafortress series. It all revolves around a new fighter with some rather unique qualities as well as a deep penetration soviet spy. The pace changes quite a bit from slowly building to all action, a number of times. The main character as well as the new fighter are deadly & there are a number of murders committed on the ground when people get in the way of the spy who is almost addicted to flying/protecting the new, only one in the world fighter. I was a little disappointed in the climax/ final dogfight, it was quite short compared to some of the others earlier in the story. I was reasonably happy with the ending because the spy gets his just deserts.

I've always liked Dale Brown books and this one didn't disappoint.

Very good book. Now want to read the rest of the series.
