I was bored by too much detail

I was bored by too much detail, i.e., step-by-step procedures in the cockpit, too many details regarding planes and weapons systems - and I am an Air Force veteran. I often found myself skipping over these details and moving on to the action. Otherwise, action descriptions were good, and the "human" elements were good. To me, the book simply would have flowed better without getting bogged down in so much detail which, to me, simply did not add that much to the story.

OPERATION. HOPE. NOT

The title looked interesting but the details became tedious with too much jargon that spoilt what could have been a good talel

Interesting plot but I found myself skipping over the painstaking details of the different aircraft and weapons. When I reached 80% through the book I thought "How can the author bring this to a conclusion with only 20% of the book left." Then it ended ubruptly.

Not His Best

Tough plot line to follow. Disjointed story lines that take forever to come together, many with no significance.

Lots of military jargon

Ok but slow reading through all the military jargon. Pretty predictable plot. Not something I would read again for a second time.

All about facts

Read it in about an hour after I figured out to skip through all the fighter plane bs. Seriously only for real fighter pilots I think. As I am not one I have no idea. But all said, more like a movie script and documentary than fiction. Not what was looking for but stuck with it to the end.

To technical

Started out enjoying this book like I had when I discovered dale brown a couple of years ago.however quickly got tired with the over use of acronyms and technical information.

Ok but....

This book was not up to normal standards of Dale Brown. It was drawn out and convoluted in many ways. Characters we have grown close to over the years were flat and lifeless like Becky Furness and Daren Mace. If this was his first book it would also be the last for me. I can only hope he will return to the excitement of the past.

Too wordy, not enough action.

Would not recommend. Part numbers, plane types get old very quickly, with little action. Dale Brown seems to have run out of action ideas.

Too Much Clinton Bashing

The story line was all right, but the book seemed to drag on. This certainly was not a page turner that kept me up late into the night. My biggest beef with the author was how he characterized the President and the first lady. There was no doubt that who he was describing from real life, but it was very obvious in his writing how much he personally did not like them. For example, how the president from a insignificant souther state sat during briefings eating snack food and drinking diet cokes, while "Steel Magnolia" was actually the most influential person in the room and had complete control over her husband. I just wish that the author could have kept his personal agenda out of the book and kept to the story line.

Too technical

I enjoyed the plot line of international military commands, however, I found the technical aspects of flying the planes to be overwhelming. The story line appeared to take second place to the minutiae of maneuvering planes. Overall, disappointing as I enjoyed many of his other books.

Three Stars

It had so many acronyms and military terms it detracted from the story and made it a difficult read.
