| I really enjoyed this book. There is a wide variety of characters, and I like them all. The mystery and Carlotta's way of figuring it out and resolving it is entertaining. I love the poetry mixed in here and there and Linda Barnes' way with words throughout the book. I will be reading more in this series. | ||||

| I read this many years ago, and enjoyed meeting Carlotta then. She is a unique heroine, a former cop, and a part-time cab driver as well as a PI. She interacts with eccentric, colorful cast of recurring characters while solving mysteries. I found I so much enjoyed meeting Carlotta again that I bought the next book in the series, and will buy more. | ||||

| Excellent book! What a great story! I love the character Carlotta, she is a tough lady! She takes on what she thinks will be a fluff case but it turns deadly. She has to use her wits and her strength to solve the case. I can't wait to read the next one in the series! | ||||

| Carlotta Carlyle, former Boston cop, works out of her home as a private investigator, taking just about any case that comes her way. When an elderly spinster, Miss Margaret Devens, stops by her home asking Carlotta to find her missing brother Eugene, Carlotta is hesitant to take the case, assuming that the man had his own reasons to leave his sister's house. Carlotta even worked with Eugene, back when she drove a cab for Green and White. But she's broke and bored and decides it should be an easy case, so she takes the job. Things get a little tougher when two men break into Miss Devens home and send her to the hospital. Suddenly, the case doesn't look so simple after all. I can't wait to read more of the books in this series. I really liked the character of Carlotta. She's very independent and handles things her own way (which is why she found herself out of the Boston police force). This was a very entertaining book that read quickly, with solid characters, and even though it is an older title, it doesn't seem dated at all. | ||||

| Fast paced book with just the right amount of laughs. Carlotta Carlyle is a bold, smart and clever 6' 1" inch woman. She's an ex-cop so mess with her and you can get your head handed to you but if she's on your side it's no stopping her. She's the kind of person you want for a friend. | ||||

| A friend recently told me about this series, and I'm so glad she did! If you like Kinsey Milhone, you'll love Carlotta Carlyle. The only problem I've seen so far is that the second book in the series is not available as an e-book. I hope that changes soon! | ||||

| Looking for new authors for my reading pleasure, AMAZON directed me to Linda Barnes and the Carlotta Carlyle series. A TROUBLE OF FOOLS is the first book. It is an older book but does not read as a dated piece. Carlyle is a PI, in Boston, ex-police (hum sounds familiar) who also drives a cab, that's different. A tall red-headed gal, Carlyle is athletic and takes no guff, a very strong personality. In this first book, Carlyle is looking for a missing person and it leads to guns, money and the IRA. A very very good introduction to a new detective for me. RECOMMENDED . | ||||
