| Fast paced book with just the right amount of laughs. Carlotta Carlyle is a bold, smart and clever 6' 1" inch woman. She's an ex-cop so mess with her and you can get your head handed to you but if she's on your side it's no stopping her. She's the kind of person you want for a friend. | ||||

| A friend recently told me about this series, and I'm so glad she did! If you like Kinsey Milhone, you'll love Carlotta Carlyle. The only problem I've seen so far is that the second book in the series is not available as an e-book. I hope that changes soon! | ||||

| Looking for new authors for my reading pleasure, AMAZON directed me to Linda Barnes and the Carlotta Carlyle series. A TROUBLE OF FOOLS is the first book. It is an older book but does not read as a dated piece. Carlyle is a PI, in Boston, ex-police (hum sounds familiar) who also drives a cab, that's different. A tall red-headed gal, Carlyle is athletic and takes no guff, a very strong personality. In this first book, Carlyle is looking for a missing person and it leads to guns, money and the IRA. A very very good introduction to a new detective for me. RECOMMENDED . | ||||

| I have read all the Sue Grafton books twice and was looking for a new series to really get into. I'm not sure this series will make the cut. Carlotta is interesting enough, but I'm not sure I find her or any of the other characters believable. I actually put it down unfinished after reading about 4/5's because I didn't really care how it ended. | ||||

| This is the first of this series. I found it hard to get into the first part of the book. Too much of Carlotta thoughts and not enough actions. Part way through this changed and I found the Carlotta I knew. Carlotta is focus on a guy passing drugs near Paolina's school. She has received a letter for TC Carlyle. TC is Tom Cat, her cat. She is hired to find a cabbie missing for two weeks. You don't need to read this book to understand the rest of the series; but it adds depth. I give the series a 5. | ||||

| Took me a long time to finish this. Just didn't grab my attention for too many chapters. Character development is important but can't be accomplished just by confessing personal foibles and failures in life. As a retired police detective sergeant I found Carlotta a bit overdone... | ||||

| It's so nice to have a FEMALE heroine for a change. As a mystery reader of Michael Connoly, Daniel Silva, James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, David Baldacci, Lee Child, Robert Crais, Vine Flynn, Dennis Lehane etc., it is a refreshing viewpoint. | ||||

| I happened to come across another book in this series and liked it. I decided to try the rest of the series, even though I didn't start the series in the order the books go in, I loved them. For Christmas my father bought me the rest of the series from Amazon, and I am working on reading them all. As for the purchase, my book came before the estimated delivery and it was in good condition as it was advertised. I am very happy with my purchase and will definitely buy more books from Amazon. | ||||

| I have really enjoyed reading the entire Carlotta Carlisle series! Unbelievably relevant even though this first book in a long series was written so long ago. Very fast paced, always complex plots that dove-tail within themselves. Carlotta is more interesting as the series goes on. Carlotta is a typical female protagonist: single, divorced, strong, independent to a fault, and so scrappy! The world created in Boston is detailed and vivid: personal life with 2 ongoing beaus, one the good boy, one the bad boy, and motherly role with her "little sister" and the seedy night world of the cab company offer interesting characters and worlds unfamiliar to explore. Not too gruesome, no explicit sex, but realistic and interesting. Go beyond the first book - Carlotta's world is worth the effort, and this is one of the classic female mystery series. If you like Paretsky, Grafton and Cornwell - you will be happy to discover this series! | ||||
