| It is not very often that a book can hide in plain sight the who-dun-its, but this book did. I really liked this book after I finished it. Getting to the end I was beginning to wonder about it, but it was worth the wait. Crider managed to answer all the niggling questions that popped up during the novel and answered them in such a way as to make me wonder why I hadn't figured it out myself. The only part that left me wondering was the wild boar attack in the 6 acres of heavy wooded area, but that's OK because it was different and unusual. Good read | ||||

| This is a new author for me as I had not read any of his works before but I liked this one a lot....I'm a Texas gal myself. I will be reading more of Mr. Crider's books in the future. | ||||

| I always enjoy Bill Crider's Dan Rhodes series. The main character is believable, and the author obviously knows small town Texas life. The characters are well developed, and anybody who lives in a rural Texas county will know somebody who fits the basic profile of each character. | ||||

| Great beginning to the Dan Rhodes series. I have been a fan for years but somehow missed (or forgot) this introduction. Sheriff Dan is newly widowed with a grown daughter (two facts I don't believe are ever mentioned in later books). A young wife of an older man, is found dead. Rumor has it, she liked to talk (and truly only talk) to men in her small community when her elderly husband is at his night job. Was it her husband jealousy well hidden of one of the talkers wanting more? Sheriff Dan Rhodes and his merry band of followers have their work cut out. | ||||
