| Never read this author before but I will in the future. Kinda would have liked knowing if R lived though. Just an overall good read. I love suspenseful books and this one was goooooood. Also try-Giorgio Kostantinos-The Quest--. | ||||

| THE ANALYST was a good enough story, but unfortunately I had hoped for better. First off, give credit where credit is due. Katzenbach takes an otherwise unlikeable character, makes you feel sorry for him, and like a professional wrestling match, wait with heightened anticipation for a stirring comeback followed by revenge. On the other hand, once the conspiracy was uncovered, I found myself not really caring. I had no connection to the 'bad guy,' so where I should have been thinking 'Wow, it was THAT guy,' I was thinking more along the lines of 'Okay, why are there still 20 pages yet to go?' And finally, the subway line that Katzenbach mentions does not have a stop at 90th Street, nor is it possible to push anybody into an oncoming express train, as to do that, you'd have to hit them with enough force to first propel them over the local track, and then hope their body fit thru the steel girders between the local and express track. We're talking at least 25 feet. Impossible. Seeing such poorly researched material in the beginning of a book, kind of takes the wind out of the sail. | いわゆる普通の善人で初老の主人公が、突然、理由もなく姿の見えない脅迫者からゲームをもちかけられる。 脅迫者の正体を期限内に暴くか、それができなければ自殺をするか主人公の大切な人が殺されるかを選ばなければならない。 脅迫者からの圧倒的で緻密な罠が次々と襲い来る中、脅迫者の正体を探さなければいけないが、どんどんと絶望に追い込まれていく。主人公の専門分野の精神分析についても、脅迫者からことごとく裏をかかれ追い詰められていく恐怖と絶望感。 主人公が反撃にでてからも、脅迫者をおいつめているかどうか手ごたえがなく、最後の決着まで主人公と脅迫者のどちらが優位にたっているかわからない。 全編にわたる緊張感と意外な脅迫者の正体などミステリー好きにはお薦め。でも本当にこんな追い詰められ方されたら、自分ならすぐあきらめてしまうなー。 | ||||
